Speedometer is reading backwards?
My TPI project is on hold for a day or so while I figure out where the pushrod tip is and why it broke.... So I decided to "fix" the odometer.
I got it back together and working, but when I hooked it up to a drill, it is reading backwards.
There is only one way that it can go together....
Anyone done this before?
Oh... I got the vintage air today too. :D:D
Any ideas?

I think a regular non-reverable drill runs the opposite direction of the output shaft. So..... the speedometer would run backwards. Great for taking mile off of your car. :jester :jester

Nothing happens when I run the drill in reverse, but the pin moves appropriately when the drill is run the other way.
(I reset the odometer anyway. It hasn't been working in years)

This is the way I tested mine too. I ran the drill in reverse while laying under the car. I ran it in reverse for about 30 seconds and came out from under the car and found I had added about .5 miles or so. It is working correctly now. Maybe the odometer reset cable is not all the way to the returned position.

OK... I just went back to it after a break and took it all apart again. I figured it out....
Apparently, the magnet was lifted up enough (in my disassembly) to allow the stops on the housing to pass under the stops on the base. This effectively reversed the speedo. So I lifted it up and put it back on the correct side.
Now the speedo works again. :)
Whew... finally something fixed. Beer break :D:D
