Default "Hot" New Alternator??

OK, the new chrome 80 amp alternator is in, and so is the new March Serpentine conversion kit. Fired it up today for the first time, bingo, everything works. Only ran it for about 2 minutes and shut it down until tomorrow. So about 4 hours later, I'm out admiring things and I put my hand on the alternator, and, WOW, that thing's kinda warm! The whole engine is cool, but the alternator is almost hot. So I yank the battery cable.

What the heck is going on?? My old alternator "two-wire plug" would not fit the new alternator, so I made a new one to fit. The "prongs" were turned 90 degrees on the new alternator. That's the only change. Any thoughts???

Maybe the wires are hooked up backwards?
