It's time to strip the paint with Spra-Strip, any advice?
This week I'm prepping the car for painting. I will be stripping the paint using Spra-Strip. Any advice or tips would be welcomed. I've used chemical strip before but never this stuff. I know not to use it on the urethane bumper covers. How about tools and clean up? What did you use? Any help will be appreciated.

I used the stuff to strip the L88 hood on my car before painting. The stuff works pretty good. I would recommend using some gloves with the stuff cause it does burn a little. I pretty much just followed the directions, spray it on, wait, then remove. I used a putty knife to help pull the paint off and towel to wipe it down. I only hit everything with water after I had scraped it down. If you use the water before scrapping you will not pull alot off and need to reapply. If you have any specific questions let me know. I will try to help.

I completely stripped mine, I used a plastic spreader for spreading bondo. then when i was done with one area, like hood or fender completely wash it with soap and water, then towel dry. you should be able to use on urethane bumpers, just do a small test area. I also got a lot or small boxes and when I took off the paint put in boxes lined with newpapers and it will harden up so it will be easy to dispose of. I cleaned my scraper with a slice in the box, which went right inside the box, less mess.

I spread newspapers under the entire car. Also used bondo scrapers, as already suggested. I let it work down to the factory primer, then scrubbed the remains with lacquer thinner and a green scotch-brite pad. The car was as clean as when new when I was done. This was about 3 years ago, no bubbling or other problems with the paint.
I have heard of many getting by with soap and water, just went an extra step to make the paint look best and minimize risk of bubble through down the road.
Wear the gloves, the stripper hurts when paint/stripper combo lands on your skin.

I'd put on a respirator and do it outside. Good luck.

I'd say the clean up after the strip is very important... mine has bubble-up in three places which makes it a 10-ft paint job instead of a 2-ft paint job.

Good point George. I hadn't thought about running a search. I'll do that.
