intake and carb recommendations...price?
thinking about a new carb and intake to replace my stock L-48 intake manifold and stock Rochester. would like to get an intake that doesn't have the EGR port. i don't want a polished manifold, just alluminum. would i notice a power increase from stock? what kind of dollars am i talking to do this?
found this deal on ebay...will it work for my vette? (stock 350 L-48)

Assuming a properly running setup & carb, then little, maybe 15.
L-48 really needs more cam which could be done at the same time,
which can make a major difference. Intake & cam could be less than intake & carb depending.

:iagree: with Ganey. L-48s need a better ignition curve and if your old Q-Jet is anything like mine was you're probably losing power there too. A cam upgrade helps a lot. If you just want to do a carb and intake you can look at Professional Products. They make knockoffs of Edelbrock manifolds and you can get a non EGR aluminum manifold for $99. You can top that off with a Road Demon or Edelbrock for another $250. I just installed the polished version of that manifold and an Edelbrock Thunder Series carb. The Thunder Series ran about $359 and the polished manifold ran $139 for a total of $498. It runs sweet. See sig pic for results.

Try the Edelbrock Performer carb and intake setup. 600 CFm carb with electric choke($240) non-egr intake ($110) with 1" 4 hole spacer/adapter (spreadbore to squarebore) you'll probably need to use a 2" air filter element with the spacer. The Edelbrock Air gap intake ($195) would be nice if it will fit (hood clearance) They say that the stock intake is just as good as any aftermarket unit up to 4500-5000 RPM, just weight savings. The Performer cam would complete the package, but more work to install. Hope this helps. :flag

Though a performer manifold and Demon Carb sure look nice setting on top of the engine but will not help that much till you improve the internals
