Default Sludge in the Tranny pan

I just pulled the tranny pan to install a new sending unit for a trans temp gauge and the bottom had some grey sludge in the bottom. this would not be so strange but I had the pan off last year to change the filter.
I was wondering what this stuff was is it clutch residue or what
Any ideas
Thanks
oh yes one more thing the substance does not seem to be magnetic.

Yeah, it's clutch(friction)material and is normal.

Yep, what Chuck said, it's normal clutch wear. That is a good reason why the filter and fluid should be changed regularly.
