any advice on what companies to order parts from?
I am 17 years old and me and my dad just got a 1970 in good mechanical condition but an interior that is torn up real bad. Basically I was wondering if any one company/catolog has better quality products than another or if there is one we should just stay away from completely. I have catologs from Mid America, Corvette Central, Volunteer Vette Products. I have also heard of Zip and some others. any help is much appreciated. thanks

check out http://www.tld-corvette.com or 770-414-0077 The Last Detail.
Great prices, quality products, and excellent service.
Good luck to you and your dad on the restoration.

For interior parts most folks recommend Al Knoch. For other parts, I have had excellent service from Zip, plus they support this forum and West Tayler is just a post away if you have trouble.
Good luck with your project!

I really like Al Knoch for interior parts (that's all they do). I have found their quality to be very good. Their website is: http://www.alknochinteriors.com/welcome.htm
The site hasn't been updated in a while, but they do take orders through it. A lot of times, when you order from the big Vette parts stores, they will just be reselling you parts from places like Al Knoch, with a markup of course.

For engine parts, if you get pushrods from Comp Cams, check em real good before installing. I got 3 bad pushrods in a new pack of 16. Two were bent and another had the tip welded on off center. Most of the vette specific vendors are similar in most respects. Many times it comes down to who has what in stock. Also the vette vendors sell aftermarket parts at marked up prices. For general engine mods and stuff, Summit or Jegs is usually pretty good.

Since most parts come from only one manufacturer the cost is the only item you shpuld be concerned with. For interiors Willcox 800-588-3883 has the best prices by far. Also I like Dr. Rebuild, his catalog is an excellent source with great drawings of the parts and how they fit. Jim
