Default '68 strut bracket bolts different from '70?!?!?!?

I hit a snag in the reinstall of my new rear end. :smash: When I went to put the strut bracket on, the bolts were to small. The 3/8" were correct for my '70 rear, but not the new one. So I went out and bought 4 7/16" bolts and they're too big. :mad What the heck? Did they use something else in '68?

This rear was used previously by a race team in an L88 (in the late 60's), so they may have "modified" it. How the heck can I figure out what size bolt is supposed to go there without buying the whole hardware store?
Thanks.
