Default Holy Bananazzz just spent ANOTHER Grand!

Just like the TENTHS on the odometer ... the money just rolls on by. Picked her up from the trans shop just now. I now have a bullet-proof sprag and a 2500 stall convertor. And mixed emotions!

Last week we put in the shift kit. Wow what a difference. It just shifted with a kick in the pants! I told him to order me a convertor too, and he quoted me the mods needed to make the Turbo 350 as tough as a 400 ... and I said DO IT!

Now it is like a completely different car AGAIN! Around town the shifting is not so brutal as it was before the convertor change. When I 'GIT ON IT!! it shifts nice and hard, causes a bit of wheelspin, :lol: and it shifts right at 5500 RPM. Perfect.

But I gotta get used to the new feel of low speed operation. The Dynomax Ultraflows drone on takeoff and I hate it. The convertor changed the RPM on takoff just enough to change the exhaust sound to an objectionable note. Before it only did that at 30 MPH and I could go above or below it. Now it does it whenever I take off too!

What can be done to the exhaust to get rid of that resonance? And who wants to loan me enough ga$ money so I can drive the thing enough to get used to it?? :smash: I need to get over the sensation of a "slipping clutch" when I take off from a light.

Yea I know, :nopity

A grand goes so fast! I'd try and "H" pipe for the exhaust. I had terrible resonance with my FLows and after the H pipe it was...well a little less. :p:

Tell me about it! I just dropped almost twice that on front and rear suspension stuff, alignment, motor mounts, belts, hoses and brake parts. Hmm, looking back at that laundry list, I'd say I didn't have much of a choice. Either spend it now, or park the car later. :rolleyes:

Paul,

You still have the 2-1-2 exhaust so I dont think an 'H' Pipe is going to do you a bit of good. At this point it is either convert to true duals (add an h-pipe) or change mufflers.

I'm going to start mocking up the sidepipes today - I'm sick of waiting - LOL - after that - I'll challenge David to a loudness match :lol:

Nahhhh not at all. In fact I like the UltraFlow sound. Especially at WOT above 4,000 or so :D But when everything inside the car resonates with the tune of the pipes, it is, well, OK maybe I'm getting old :hat :party: One more thing: I cherish getting old - it's a privelege denied to many! :lurk:

Okay my suggestions;

option 1- invest a grand in a sterio to drown out the exhaust with rock music.

option 2- get tone deaf (like me) and count it as a positive thing if you ever chose to get married.

Funny you should say that!! The quote was $975 // same as the trans guy's quote. I think they were in cahoots!! I chose the trans work first. Next may be the A/C work (another grand) then the stereo. Hmm we'll see.
