Relocating ebrake for 275/60's
So I'm looking at where the ebrake bracket will go on top of the arm to allow
275/60's.
I have been told that the ebrake will not work very long with the relocation. Looking at
the angle the cable will make, I wonder if moving the second bracket in a little bit
would help with this. Anyone look at moving the second bracket?
I need the ebrake working for 3 more years due to inspections and all.
Also, how far out has the 275/60's stuck out from the body. We testfit one
and it stuck out past the fender...

I have 275/60's on the stock wheels and have not had to relocate the e-brake bracket and the tires stick out the same as the 255's...

I have a '72, and as such the FRAME mounted cable shroud brackets are bolted on, so I moved them to the outermost possible, favorable angled position I could....AFTER I moved the ebrake shroud to behind the rotor, at that point I also took some large washers, drilled a hole in the edge, and installed a stiff enough spring between that washer and the brake cable shroud to pull it back inboard so i'ts impossible to hit the tire...safety thing with me....
I did this all about 7 years ago, and at that time I did a lot of messing around with that brake cable, and tried all sorts of positions, and including the top mounting position....I have read the posts over the years here about that top mounting position but nothing about it being short lived....I did not like the top mount position as I distinctly remember clamping the bracket in place there, and checking the cable routing, and found nothing I was happy with...I fergit jest whay these daze, but so it goes....
anyway, MY solution is as described above....

Does the inner sidewall not flex to the point it could rub against the bracket?
That would be my worry with such a close distanct between the tire and the
bracket.
Thats mrvette - I saw your writeup in the archives. I'll print that it I don't like how it
looks.
As to the tire sticking out, it was wierd. I had to adjust the exhaust pipes, so hopefully
the car will drop down a little more with the tire to see if it still sticks out.

I'm running 28x11.5x15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets (which are almost the same as 275/60/15 radials. I had to remove the ebrake bracket. I could have probably gotten away with leaving it in place and tieing the cable up so it did not rub the tire...however I chose to play it safe by removing it. I was worried about some tire flexing and possibly hitting the bracket.

I am also using 275's without moving the E-brake bracket. I only have a little over 1/16 inch clearance but it dosen't rub. I included a picture to show how the wheel fits in the fender.
