Cleaning Rubber Brake Hoses
Not to sound cheap.. cause I know I am.. But I wire wheeled the ends of the rubber lines and the look really good. The rubber doesn't look as clean. It doesn't look dry but just doesn't look clean. What can I use to clean'em up? Anything that will last? Buying new ones for $20 is an option, SS lines is not..don't want the whole set... Just want the hoses to look new..er.

Re: Cleaning Rubber Brake Hoses (Koz)
I had some 5-year-old brake hoses that I cleaned up winter 2001/2002 with brake cleaner. Cleaned up the INSIDE that is.
All in all my brakes are GREAT!

The SS lines were recently on sale at Zip for $54. I just installed the rear lines and it was easier than making apple pie!!!!! :jester

Just my .02 ---Personally, I can't see cleaning old ones. What I am learning is that it usually saves time and money to replace stuff once you have it off rather than later. Just think about having to bleed your brakes AGAIN when you do replace those rubber lines!!! Put the stainless steel flex lines on. They look good and will last. Mine took a little effort to get seated with the hard lines however.
