I tried to pull mine back as they suggest but it was already back or at least I could not move it.Worked with the top u-joint and shaft support untill the binding was gone. This took a while to do and was the only pita of the whole job.Love it!!! :steering:

Don't know if you got the reply. I loosened the set screws and tried different positions with u-joint and support untill the wheels moved freely by hand.My support is a bit farther out than some of the pictures I've seen but works fine.Takes some time.

Looks like a good clean install, but that guy should be worried about his mullet getting caught in the creeper casters.

geez, signguy... do you have any pride? how can you post pics of your undercarriage without cleaning it up a little?
Seriously, though, that is one sweet looking undercarriage you have there. Mine will be that clean someday....

thanx to all of you for your comments and compliments...
ill keep ya'll posted...
as far as my undercarraige goes...the whole underside looks pretty much that way...when i shopped for a Vette i took 4-1/2 months to find "the right one" and i did pay a few thousand more dollars for it than a 79 should cost but in doing so i found a southern, garage kept car that is VERY clean under there and i figure that it was money well spent as it is one very time and money consuming area that i will not really have to deal with...

BTW...thats John with the long hair...probably the best mechanic/tech that i know (he built my engine)...he is a HUGE help with my car...
its not really a mullet, it just looks that way cause he's lying down...he told me the other day that he was going to cut it off for the very reason that you mentioned (creeper wheels) but he got to the barber shop and chickened out  ...although he DID cut it back some...
part of me thinks "why the long hair?" and part of me is jealous cause at least he has hair! at my age im gettin kinda thin on top :(
i think i cut mine off short about 1980...oh well...to each his own...
after all...thats what bein American is all about...freedom of choice...right?

Sounds like you are pretty happy with your car since the motor was done...all I ever see from you are posts about how great everything is!

You should be enjoying it though...you put a lot of work into it. I still can't believe your crank broke in half!

I'm looking forward to seeing that car in Old Town next month.

yes...im VERY happy woth the motor...it really does run awesome...

tonight i messed with the Steeroids binding for an hour or so and i was able to get it pretty smooth...i would say about 99%...
today i got it aligned and naturaly i put a few miles on it ... :)
it drives beautifuly...
it is true however that it is a completely different feel...
but compared to chasing it all over the road...i love it and im sure that the more i get used to it, the more i will like it...

i have added some pix to the steeroids page and i am adding more pix to the motor page as well...
keep checking back as i am going to make some new pages soon...

WOW. I am impressed, How the steeroids gets rid of that bulky steering box right? If so, then your report on it just sold me on getting one.

well...although I love it...you have to realize something...
i hesitate to re-open the same can of worms that Paul did and was later sorry for...but...
the feel IS different...some have described it as a lack of "feel of the road"...
heres my take...
the vette as well as my 3000GT steered a little "harder" (for the lake of a better term) then my 99 Olds Aurora...a larger, luxury type car...
the Olds...on the other hand...steers like a Cadilac or comparable car...
two finger driving...etc real easy like...

well...thats how the vette "feels" now...
if you like a car to "feel" like that then by all means go with Steeroids...
if you do not like that kind of feel then you probably wouldnt like Steeroids...
i personaly like both "feels" and, yes, i would love it if my vette steered a little "harder"...BUT...and this is a BIG BUT (no pun intended)...

in all honesty...i just was never happy with the constant "babysitting" that i had to do because of the wandering and unpredictability...
when on the open road now, like a long, straight road, i can finally "aim" the car...instead of having to "steer" the car because it acted like it had a mind of its own!
not to mention that rough roads or bumps made my car unpredictable no matter what i replaced, rebuilt or adjusted...

so for me...yes, i love it...
i will now be able to take my eyes off the road for more than one milisecond at a time if i so desire...
i wont panic when i see a bump up ahead, wondering which direction my 24 year old car is going to choose to go in next...
i will finally be able to RELAX when i cruise instead of being exhausted from the neccessary ever constant concentration it took to drive my vette before...
