Door Interchange Question
I'm currently in the process of installing a drivers door from a 75 or 76 Corvette onto a 69 that had slid door first into a sign. The problem I'm running into is that it does not want to fit! It gets very tight at the upper rear portion of the door near the handle. Is it usually this difficult to install doors? Are these doors interchangeable? Or is my frame or body tweaked enough that it no longer accomodates these doors?
Thanks in advance!

Only you know how hard it was hit, but the doors should work. They are basically the same. You will probably have to remove some from the edges to fit.

Re: Door Interchange Question (89formula)
89formula, you need to loosen up the door hinges where they mount to the bird cage. You will need to do a lot of adjusting. Get someone to help with the mounting. Remove the door sill plate and use some strips of bulsa wood to raise the door to achieve the correct door gaps, both front and rear. Once you have the gaps to your liken tighten the bolts up. Be real careful when opening and closing the door until you are sure the door does not hit . You may have to do some sanding on the door edges to get the best fit. It is a pain in the *ss but take your time. They do fit.

Re: Door Interchange Question (crf311)
Thanks for the advice. After alot of work I have them pretty close. Just needs a little more to be really good but I will not worry about that for now. It seems like it would be a real hassle to do it with freshly painted doors on a freshly painted car!
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Re: Door Interchange Question (89formula)
I posted about this a day ago. No responses.
The doors changed in 78. The weatherstrip is the same for 69-77,
so your doors should fit in there after a few hours of wrestling.
Someone put the 78-82 doors on my 75. I didn't even know, until
I went to change the door locks: had to buy newer style.
Good luck :seeya
