Side pipes - Part 2 - Fair price
Looking for a roundabout idea of what I could get for the Hooker Competition headers and chrome sidepipes if I decided to take 'em off and sell them. The headers are on a 350 SB. I have no idea how old they are, but the main pipes seem to be in real good condition. Need a little polishing, but not bad at all.
Just trying to get an idea of what I'd have onhand to put into a new undercar exhaust system.
Thanks.

To scare clutchdust away - I'd say $2500 would be fair.
(fairly high)
In private, I would suggest much less.
My guage for good used parts is 50% of retail. If they are very old - or
borderline 'good' - more like 30%. If they are newer or pristine - then more
like 70%. You should be able to entertain a decent stainless system with the
proceeds. Also in the equation will be the amount of time you have to wait
for 'your price'.
Don't worry clutchdust - I'm looking at 'glass covers - not the Hookers.

What does a Hooker setup cost brand new? that's headers and sidepipes.
Seems to me in the neighborhood of 1000 to 1500 bucks

Chromed is around a grand. But if you put 'em on eBay you'll be able to double the new price and then hit them with 200 bucks shipping and handling.:)

I saw a set at a swap meet two years ago. The guy was parting out his 74 and was asking $300.00 for a set of Hooker chrome headers and side pipes. They lasted about 15 minutes so I think they were very underpriced. I would think 450 -500 would be more reasonable.
