# locations in trans and rear
My car is now on jackstands so it is time to find some numbers... Where exactly is located the numbers in TH400 and normal rear end? What numbers am I supposed to find on stock -75? I suppose both rear and trans should have VIN somewhere?

Re: # locations in trans and rear (FinnShark)
No , the vin is not on them. The trans will have a plate riveted to the passenger side and the rear case and cover have casting numbers, production #s, and the first two letters of the production number is the gear ratio.
If you post the numbers here someone will interpet them.

True - and - False.
The rear end does not have VIN embossed.
There are date codes that can be examined to determine if the unit
'appears' be original.
The TH400 has the VIN derivative (end) stamped into the case.
It is on the drivers side - edge of case just above the pan.
Ditto for TH350 owners.
