Tranny trouble in my daily... 4L60E
as a few of you are aware theres a blizzard covering colorado right now after our long drought. Long story short, im home and my s-10 blazer isnt. the blazer got stuck and the transmission is now screwed. i have reverse, but forward dosent work in 2 or 4 wheel drive. in 1st 2nd 3rd and OD it just revs like its in neutral, but it would spin all 4 tires in reverse.
am i going to have to blow another $1200 on a tranny for it?
thanks for any help.

Check the wrecking yards, you can usually get a 4L60e for less than $600, exchange. 90 day warranty! Guaranteed rebuilt in Mexico. :D

Is the fluid gone?
The xfer case stuck?
Sounds like the fluid is froze/non-existant in either the xfer case or the tranny, thus making the engine unable to shift.
My father in law's jeep sits unused for about a month at a time (he travels) and when he gets back in the winter, the first time he fires it up, the tranny fluid is still sludgy and it takes a while to shift.

I would get underneath and verify that the tranny shift ratchet is clicking through every gear. Next I would put the TV cable at max tension to ensure your pressure is the highest possible. I've blow out the 3-4 before, second gear and a few TC's

well i know its not the Xfer case because 4wd works in reverse. i see no9 fluid leaks (bloody snow) and nothing out of the ordinary underneath. im thinking it could be the cable, because it will go into reverse, and work like normal, but od-1st is like neutral. i have it parked across the street from my mechanic, so we'll see if they can get to it tomorrow. we towed it with my dads 92 dakota and a logging chain. :)
