A couple issues, thermostat and pulley removal.
I'm in the middle of re-doing the cooling system on my vette. It is a 71 small block 350/270 with air. A couple of questions from today's work session. First, what are the pros and cons with going with a 160 or 195 thermostat?
Secondly, the three bolts that hold the crank case pulley on seem to be frozen. Is there a trick to removing these three bolts and the one in the middle? I need to get to the timing chain cover and replace the seals. Thanks guys.
PS I don't have unlimited funds but would like to get a good water pump. Any recommendations (I want a stoick appearance)?

160: Engine stays cooler
195: Engine is warmer, warms up quicker, gets better emissions.
180: Right in the middle, it's what I installed in the fall. Seems to be the best option. That or put a 195 in and drill a couple of holes into it.

Hey Rick:
I don't have any tricks for those nasty bolts, but I can comment on the water pump. I found that those aluminum pumps are the greatest, but beyond my budget. I bought a Summit brand hi-flow cast pump that is the exact configuration as stock. Has a silghtly higher GPM, better seals and bearings. All accessories bolted right up. Good enough for me!!! :yesnod:
