Default 1970 Convertible door striker

Greetings,

My cousin is restoring my 1970 convertible. I have conflicting information regarding the additional door striker that is installed on convertibles. It's the striker that is shaped like a cone (towards the top of the door) and a hollow cone-shaped female receiver (on the door jamb side).

One of my restoration guides mentions that 1973-1975 convertibles have this additional striker, but there is no mention of 1968-1972 having them. I also have a 1970-1972 NCRS manual and there is no mention of the parts either.

In the Eckler's catalog, it mentions the parts (male and female striker parts) for 1970-1975.

Does any one know if these parts were installed on 1970's convertible?

If you have any additional information regarding these parts, please let me know.

Thanks...

My 1970 Conv project car has those "striker that is shaped like a cone (towards the top of the door) and a hollow cone-shaped female receiver (on the door jamb side)".

I replaced these on my 74. They mount via three bolts one each. My old one are not in that bad of shape. Does the car appear to require them? I'm not sure myself if they are the same as a 70.

My 70 also has these strikers. I think all c3 convertibles have them.

My 71 has them, I believe all c3 vert's did. There function is to add stiffness to the car because of the lack of a roof. I was once told that if you see a car with these sheared or bent to stay away from it. Chances the car has been hit hard and the body has moved.
