Default New RAM 400 Flywheel

I just got my new RAM 400 flywheel to install on my 383. Does it need to be resurfaced before I install? I heard that even though it is new it still needs to be resurfaced

Dave, I im'd ya, not sure if ya got it, that IM thing never works for me! Believe it or not the flywheel didn't come with instructions. I read on there web site that it should be resurfaced but I think they may have been talking about old flywheels. I will be around this weekend, I have Friday off and plan on working putting the transmission and engine on the frame.

I wouldn't have it resurfaced - but doesn't it need to be balanced for your engine? I was told 383 are externally balanced

Thats what I'm thinking, shouldn't have to do it if its new. Yes, the flywheel came balanced from RAM, all 400 flywheels have to be externally balanced.
