Default Stall converter - More torque = more stall?

I read a test on the same stall converter used on a big block and a small block. One the small block it stalled up to about 2500rpm, on the big block it stalled to 5000rpm. The big block has a lot more torque. Now what I wonder is this: If I replace my L48 with a more performance oriented 383, am I going to need to change the stall converter again?

Compared to a 350, you can expect a 383 to stall higher w/ same converter due to more C.I. & BB (3.75) stroke.

Yes.

Advertised torque converter stall speed is based on the output of whatever engine the manufacturer uses for a baseline. I seem to recall that B&M, for example, uses a pretty mild 350, but you might want to check. And I don't know whether there is an industry standard or whether different companise use different standards.

The short answer is that the same torque converter will exhibit various stall speeds--higher or lower than advertises-- depending on the output of the engine it's bolted to.

So what kind of stall speed should I get for my 350 so I can use it for a 383? Like 2200?
