locating special '72 vette
New to this board. I am trying to find a 1972 convertible that I sold about 1991 for various reasons (wife new child closed business etc) I didn't restore it but resurrected it(no motor, trans interior, definitly non matching #s). Sold in New Orleans to someone from Missippi ( I think). Details are :'72 big block(454) 4 sp, air,at that time it was a dove grey exterior with a red interior, no real modifications pretty original looking. I have a partial VIN 1Z67W2S52?0?1. If anyone knows its whereabouts or can help me locate it it would be appreciated. I would like to purchase the car back. If I can't locate this car if anyone knows of a '70-'72 nice convertible with air, prefer 4 spd,for sale let me know. Thanks for any help.

You would be extremely lucky to find that car. You would have to track the paper trail starting with who you sold it to. But you can look at several for sale here in the for sale section listed just below the general discussion section.

You could buy mine, but getting it to New Orleans may be more expensive than the Louisiana Purchase
Apart from tracing the paper trail, as suggested above, you could try online dealers, like vettefinders, to see if it's currently or recently for sale. Also, the 72Corvette registry may be able to help.
It would make a great story if you could find it...Good Luck and let us know!

appreciate the support will let you know what happens. Does anyone know someone (state trooper,DEA ) who might be able to run the numbers ? My insurance papers list it as
1Z67W2S528021 but the 8 is wrong as they stopped at 527..... and the last 2 may also be a 5, I am guessing it may be 1Z67W2S525021

One option would be a BMV search by state. You can request a "Title search" through most states to determine if the car is currently registered. It cost me $10 for thr one state I checked.
Good luck in the search.
