I'm just curious of what RPM your engine is at when it upshifts at WOT. Please state your motor (if stock) and transmission. And guys with manuals... SHUT UP! :D

The THM 400 shift points are controlled internally by the governor. If you look at the passengers side of your trans, you should find a tag riveted there. That tag has a Julian date, etc, and a code, like CK, CY, etc. If you find the code, you can see what the application of the trans was originally, and find what its' internal "shift points" are governed to do. To change them, you have to modify the governor. Chuck

Hmm, because my TH350 upshifts about 6500rpm, no power there, but that's where it shifts. Just trying to figure out where I want my shift points in the governer of my 200-4R. Probably just stock GN 5500rpm should be fine.

The governor controls both the 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 shift points. I've been experimenting with mine and I have my 2 to 3 right where I want it 5500 rpm, the problem is my 1 to 2 shift point. Currently I've not had the guts to find out exactly where it is. I've only got about 1000 miles on my ZZ4 and I don't want to rev it that high. I know it doesn't shift at 5500, because I have crossed that several times and it doesn't shift, without me letting off the gas.
The vacuum modulator does play a role in shifts, but I think it only effects midrange shift points.

Mine will shift anywhere from 4,700 to 5,000 RPM under WOT. Bone stock 1979 L-82 (never rebuilt, all parts original except spark plugs and ignition wires) w/ TH350.
