Default AutoRx?

Doing a little surfing over at Bobistheoilguy and there were several very positive posts on a product called AutoRx. It's an engine cleaner that supposedly removes sludge, varnish and other stuff that clogs oil passages. According to "testimonials" it removes a surprising amount of stuff even from engines that have been running Mobil 1 with frequent changes.
Anyone ever tried this stuff?

TouringPro,
Could I have a few details about your experience with Rx?

SChmucker & Desertdawg: Auto-Rx http://www.auto-rx.com is a chemical engine cleaner that is added to the crankcase oil. It removes varnish, dirt and contaminents from internal parts without the use of harsh solvents. It also accomplishes this without harming seals and gaskets.

flynhi: I used it in the C3 and the carmel colored gunk on the inside of the valve covers was gone after the second treatment. I also use it in the Tundra about every 25K miles or so as a preventative measure (some Toyota motors tend to sludge). The only thing I do differently from the manufacturer's suggestions is to leave it in the engine for 750 miles rather than 500.

Good info - Thanks for the education.
Did you experience the increased performance or gas mileage that the "testimonials" claim?

Thanks Touringpro,

I will look into this stuff if you say it works. I have a vette, a truck, and a jeep all with 100,000 miles or more. this might be worth it....

Well, the Vette feels more responsive - although without before and after dyno runs I couldn't prove performance gains. The mileage seems to have improved by 2 or 3 mpg, but again, it may be a case of wishful thinking.

My main reason for using Auto-Rx was to safely clean the inside of the motor and for that purpose, it's very effective. The filter was full of crud when I removed it and changed the oil after my first 750 mile interval.
