Default 82 rear suspension question (Gymkhana?)

I have the following sway bar set-up

Front 1 1/4
Rear 1/2

I measured 3x

I also have a 9 leaf steel spring. I know 82s were supposed to come with a fiberglass rear spring.

What in blazes in going on under there!!

Sounds like Gymkhana suspension to me. The front sway bar is thick enough, and the presence of a rear sway bar indicates it. Not sure on the dimensions- it may be more accurate if you wrap a string around the bar, then take the measurement of the string(circumference) and divide by Pi to find the diameter. I would bet 1.125" front and 7/16" rear sway. Not SURE on that though, 82 expert should chime in.

The 80-82 Gymkhana cars had a steel spring instead of composite.

all FE7's had the steel spring. Check to see if you have aluminium strut rods, if you do it's original, if not someone either swapped the struts or replaced the spring.

That's the FE7 set-up for 1982. Only 5,457 had it.

Strut rods are aluminum!!! Thanks for the info Twinnie. Hope you dont mind if I use that name.

Also to Pacin and Paul, thanks for your replies.

Thats super cool!!! I just ordered KYB Gas-A-Just shocks through the Tire Rack via the forum ($29 each). I hope they match up well with the springs.

Its great learning something new about your car, especially when it goods news like this.
