Default FIRST DRIVE OF THE YEAR YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY

HI ALL
We havn't met yet but you all know my husband Dave by now. Well i am in top spirits right now as I got the vet out of the garage after we did some shovelling, took it to put some gas in it and went around the block. Thrilling!!!
Can't wait till all the snow is gone and the roads are dry then I'm off to who knows where. LOL
Only problem after the long winter was a leak from the chrome thermostat housing. Tightened it down and so far so good. Have a feeling though I'll be replacing the gasket and using some silicone on it. Anyway nice to post finally. Those ofyou who live in the southern states please send us some 70 degree weather.

Hi! :seeya

Now isn't this a turn of events. I have been raving about how it's Vette weather/ shorts/ short sleeve shirts year round here in San Diego. And here I am couped up in the house while you guys get out. Hey I'm having the same problem. Just ordered a new billet water neck for same reason, those chrome ones are junk. I'm so mad i bought it in the first place. Enjoy your :auto:

Had mine out for the first time today. It is kind of weird. I am driving the car with the tops off, mid sixty's weather and the feilds are covered with snow! :lolg:

I was driving down the highway today when I came up on a new Pontiac. The girl in the passenger seat is hitting the driver on the shoulder. I thought "what the heck?" As I pull along side of them she is still hitting him on the shoulder and pointing at my car. Then the guy gives me the thumbs up.

I don't think they are going to be driving a Pontiac very much longer.

here in CT today it was about 75 degrees in the shade. Sadly, i dont own a vette and unfortunately my car has been in the shop for the last week and a half and isnt expected to get out for at least another week. If i had my car home, i would have at least put the windows down, ha ha.

Welcome from Texas! Maybe that's why those chrome thermostat housings are so cheap(cost that is) compared to the cast iron ones & the billet aluminum ones. Did anyone happen to look to see if their's might be stamped *Made in Mexico*? Every other GM part is coming from there, so I'm sure the aftermarket stuff is too.

By the way... I'm gonna try the chrome one first. Maybe I'll have better luck.

Hello in Texas and ty for the welcome. You know if it wasn't made in Mexico could be it was made in China or Taiwan. Just about ecerything today seems to come from one of those countries. It's been on the car almost a year and didn't have any problems until today so am hoping it's just because of the car sitting since november. The bolts were on the loose side and it seems fine sinse we tightened them so will just have to wait and see. They look so much nicer than the cast ones. Well wish me luck!

I painted my cast one with some aluminum looking paint. Doesn`t look too bad. Although I am wanting the billet one now. I passed on the chrome one because of what I had heard.

See I think all of you need to move to TX... uh, no not really... then the roads would be too crowded to safely do triple-digits with any frequency.

But it would be cool to have a 3 mile line of Vettes out on the highways every day. :D

Seriously, I'm glad to hear you were able to get the car out and enjoy it!! Down here there's only been a couple weeks the entire winter (which is now over as we're all mowing the yard now) when I couldn't drive top-down.

I pulled mine out too but only drove it home to work on my winter projects and then back into hibernation. It was only in the upper 40's lower 50's near the lake. :cry

We had 70-75 degree weather in Canton during the weekend. We got my aunt's '64 'vert out and was in a parade on Saturday and did some cruising on Sunday. It's around 70 today. Gotta wait till April to get my '74 out though.

There's a party for my Squadron at the North Island beach (near Hotel Del Coronado) tommorow so hopefully it clears up and I'll be cruising in style with the T-tops off.

:steering: :smash:
