I'm painting out my engine compartment and changing some things in the rear. I was just wondering how big of a job is it to lift of the body off to paint the frame. :banghead:

It is a fairly large project. It will only take a couple of days to get the car ready for the lift. The problem comes when the car is rusty and your body mounts don't come off. Then you spend a lot of additional time. And of course, you'll end up spending a lot more money than you anticipated.

As Chris said, lot of prep work involved and needing something to place the body on and supporting it well so you do not stress the bonding seems. Nothing like putting it back on and having a number of leaks or cracks.

What did you do to clean up your wheel wells?

I used steel wool to smooth out the wheel wells when painted with krylon semi flat black paint.

I started out with a degreaser first then alot of hand sanding. I primed inside and out , now just gettig close to paint. I moved all my wiring and vacum hoses going forward to the inside of the wheel well by glassing in a 1 1/2" pvc pipe to the upper section of the wheel well. First I had to use a heat gun to get the pvc to shape of the well. It looks nice to see it all clean. We all know that the vette's engine compartment is not the most attractive.

I pressure blasted and them hand sanded my fenderwell and painted. Used stripper and hand smoothened the engine compartment with the body off.
