Trans. install tips?
After installing a clutch in a 68 small block, (I did use a line up tool) the trans. doesn't want to go in all the way.
It seems like the input shaft won't go into the pilot bushing.
Does anybody know of any tricks to make this install easier?

Re: Trans. install tips? (RLP)
I would check the diameters of both the input shaft and bushing, It's possible you have the wrong bushing if you just installed a new one. If they are the same size I would double check the clutch alignment, use an old input shaft some of the plastic general purpose tools don't work too well. Is the tranny hanging down when you're pushing it into the bushing? If so get a bolt the same size as the mounting bolts and cut off the head. Slot the bolt so you can use a screw driver to remove it. Mount 2 so the tranny will rest on them while you try to align it. If this works then remove the bolts and install the correct ones.
Good luck,
