Default SOOO close

i had just finished installing my lower a arms (and new springs) and i was putting my brake pads in when i look on the garage floor to see a puddle of brake fluid dripping from the caliper :cuss :cuss

i pulled the caliper off and it looks like the seals let go.. but i cant tell because i cant get the dust boot off. am i better off going to napa and getting a new caliper, or taking this apart and rebuilding it?

if anyone in CT has a passenger front caliper that is still good, I'd be more then happy to pick it up tonite

If they are new I would take it back. At least they will replace it with one that works.

If you shoot a little air where the brake line enters, and I mean a little, you should get the boot off.

If they are not SS you probably will have to much pitting to rebuild anyway. Depending on your goals, NAPA sells them for $65 exchange out the door.

If they are stainless sleeved then get a set of zero tolerance o-ring pistons and rebuild. If not sleeved then get new calipers. Dont bother rebuilding with the OEM lip seal design. The dust seal will come of easily by prying with a screwdriver but you will most likely puncture the rubber boot.

So, did you get the brakes fixed?
