Alternator Bracket cuts into upper radiator hose.
I have seen some great engine pics lately. Some engines contain a two inch wide protective band that is wrapped around the upper radiator hose and secured by two long pull ties. It prevents the alternator bracket from cutting into the radiator hose. Is this an original piece of hardware or just a smart fix?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Don't know if this helps, but the upper hose on my SB used to cut into that bracket. I flipped the hose end for end and it totally fixed the problem. Good luck.

Smart fix. In a correct installation the hose should really come no where near the alt bkt. In reality it comes alot closer to the rad shroud.

My radiator hose used to rub on the alternator bracket when I bought my car and I kept thinking that was a pis-poor design. When I did my engine swap, I put all new hoses and the new hose doesn't even come close to the bracket. I guess the previous owner or his mechanic used the wrong hose or, as stated above, it may have been installed backwards.

My 82 was like that when I bought it. But since have installed a chrome swivel water neck and a stainless steel flexible water hose. It goes where I want it to go.
