Default strut rod bushings

I'm removing my rear end and would like to install new strut rod bushings,can I do this with a big hand operated arbor press? :rolleyes:

Yep. Push out the inner metal sleeve, and then the rubber bushing should pop right out. The poly bushings go back in without a press, just a little bit of that gooey lube. Can't say for sure how the poly ones go in. The other option for removal is to burn the bushing with a torch. Good luck.

I thought about heating up the rod in a 220 degree oven then hitting it with the press. :chevy

I used an arbor press with support under the rod end..and it was a snap! Others have drilled many holes into the rubber and pounded it out..and others have used a hole saw to weaken the rubber. The poly goes in by hand...and remember to lube itwell. USE THE PRESS!!!!

I noticed a new two-part rubber bushing (insert each half from either side), but don't know how they peform compared to standard press-in rubber. Anyone have experience with them? Mine will need replacing soon.
