Torque converter lock up.
I have disconnectrd most of my computer on my 81. The torque converter no longer locks up ( I think) I am ignorant as to the purpose of the lock up and when and why it should happen. Any comments would be appreciated

Re: Torque converter lock up. (Corvettewolf)
The lockup is designed to lower engine RPM at higher speeds. In general torque converters slip so as to keep the engine in a higher rpm band where horsepower and torrque offer a better throttle response. Now if you are highway crusing then the lockup OD lowers your engine rpms by eliminating slip usually through mechnical means.

usually its just a 12v trigger that locks the convertor. You could wire in a manual switch to control it for long freeway drives.
