vette jerks to the left when braking
I just replaced a leaking caliper on the driver's side, now when I break fairly hard the car will glance a bit to the left. Any ideas? It was a rebuilt caliper from a local parts shop.

Re: vette jerks to the left when braking (midwest-vette)
Did you replace the pads? If they have brake fluid on them, they may be the problem. i would replace them regardless. How did the rubber flex line look? it isn't kinked is it?

Did you bleed both front calipers after you were finished? Sounds like there's some air in the passenger side.

I had a similar problem with pulling, then one night my brakes failed completely!
I am about to replace the master cylinder that I got from Bair's Corvettes and also I got a set of New O-Ring Caliper Pistons from ZTI.
I have all the parts, but haven't had a chance to install them yet. Someone I know recommened the new o-ring caliper pistons. He installed them in his C3 and said it now stops like never before.
I'll try to remember to post a message about the results of the replacements.

The pads looked new, almost zero wear. The line wasn't kinked either. I had a ton of brake fluid on the pads though, maybe I should replace like you mentioned. I manually bled both front calipers. Should I rebleed? I'm hoping it's not the MC.

Re: vette jerks to the left when braking (midwest-vette)
If its pulling to the left when you brake then the left side brake is working better then the right. As was stated before, maybe a stuck piston in the other caliper. I would rebuild the other caliper as well. Its usually recomended to rebuild or replace calipers and wheel cylinders for both sides of an axel even if only one is bad. That way its much more likely that both sides will function with the same efficiency. Sometimes you can verify this by feeling the temp of the wheel with the back of your fingers after driving the car and using the brakes for a while. Carefull though, cause they could be hot enough to burn. Just touch em with the back of your fingers quickly at first to judge the temp. If its pulling like you say then you should be able to feel the difference in temp from wheel to wheel. Either the hotter one is sticking and dragging, or the cooler one is sticking and not applying equal friction as the other.
