Default Anyone here have electric headlight motor mod???

Was wondering if anyone had converted over to electric headlight motors instead of vacuum operated.
All Opinions are welcome.
i know it would be a pain for someone if i sold but i don't plan on selling and i do document what i use so as to make it easy when parts are needed.
Would it be too Bubbaesk??

There is a guy on another board (don't think I'm alloud to post link) that sells a kit with plans for the brackets. The kit uses C4 actuators. I plan to do this mod. Easy to change back to vac. if needed.

He sells the plans or the kit???
Seems like it wouldn't be too terribly hard to figure out. But if someone has already done the legwork that would be
I was thinking of the camaro motors. You would have to change the way the motor mounts and get the linkage right but that should be it other then wiring. It sounds easy but would probably be a PIA at first.
How much is whatever it is he's selling and what does it include???

i was working on it also i have everything removed from my headlight system, and found 2- 89 mistubishi eclipse headlight motors that will fit with some modifications, but i started the fuel injection project and havent gotten back to it,itll be my summer project.I can still lift up the headlights and theyll lock in place so i can drive at night, and then lift up and unlock them and put them down when i want, till i have everything finished.

Chris (aka 69Myway) has a kit and instructions available...but was worried about posting the info on the forum (not a supporting member).

Go to his website -- update -- link not working -- removed

Go to his website: http://www.mspeed.hothomepages.com/ and look around. You should find what you need to know there.

I'd jump on it but after spending 4 months and $400 dollars making it work perfectly. I'll be damned if I remove it even to upgrade it.

When we get there, we are thinking of using a C5 setup and fabricate a fiberglass plate to close into the opening properly. This will eliminate lots of pounds of vacuum equipment, not to mention many potentially leaky hoses. All that will be left in the vacuum dept. will be the Heater/AC controls and the cruise control.

I got an email from Chris the other day, he's no longer using C4 parts but found something better and less harder to find. I've seen his headlights in action, they work fantastic and snap right up. Far better setup than the vacuum stuff.

Sounds cool. I don't like the vaccuum system much...the hoses seem to be a little out of control on my car. I wonder how expensive it is to complete?

Hey scott...I got my TPI setup in and have just now had time to work on my car as school as been keeping me REALLY busy. Just wanted to update you a little :)

Joe,

Glad to see you're still alive :D I'm working now but if I remember right it would cost from $200-500 depending on where you bought parts from, plus you have to do some fabrication I think. I'll let Chris know people are asking here, hopefully he'll come over and post.

Don't forget May 3rd at St. Armands! I'll probably have a small BBQ after the show, you're invited if you can make it.

May 3rd...I'll make a point to remember that. I'm pulling the engine prob this weekend to work on the car, so hopefully she'll be driveable again by that time.

Actually I think you meant Firebird motors. I don't know of a Camaro with disappearing headlights since 1967-69. I'm not sure if those first gen RS headlights flipped, or if they were just doors that opened up to reveal the lights. That far back, they were probably vaccuum operated as well.
