Pics of my new 71
Here she is, the purple pimp. My plan is to get the 200 r-4 going and bolt my circle-track motor in (after the season is over)until the 406 is built. Once it moves on it's own, it pain and body, then interior.
This is a new fiberglass hood from ACI. I don't care for it. It will be up for sale before too long. Nothing wrong with it, but it does not fit my vision for this car.
Check the interior delete option, and rare wood dash
This car has a very solid foundation. It had a frame-off resto but the owner ran out of $$ and motivation before bodywork and interior. Should be an easy fixer. I think it was a good find.

It is definately a place to start. I like that hood. Too bad you are in CA.
Good luck with it.

Does it have the rare duck tape on the nose option too? :jester
Good call on getting rid of that hood, they just dont look right on chrome bumper cars.
I'm trying to decide whether I want to put money into a 406 build up or just move up to a big block. The 406 definately has its advantages.....
I'm sure itll be awesome when its done!

"Purple Pimp" :lolg: Gotta have a sense of humor!
Lots of work to do there but it's a sweet car so I'm sure it will be worth it. :yesnod:

That's not duct tape on the nose, but paint that has decided to part ways with the car.
I think that hood looks ok on rubber-bumper cars that are done right, but have never seen a chrome bumper I like with. Dude spent $500 for it. I really wish he would of bought an L88 hood instead. I'll probably let it go real cheap once I get the car in the garage.

That's quite a project you have there. It sounds like you got a good deal on it so it's worth the work. I'm shocked at the interior. I can't believe somebody would do that. I like the "interior delete option" that cracks me up. Keep us updated as you progress. It will be nice to watch it's transformation.

Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you.
Makes my "only needs a paint-job" issue seem pretty plain.
Keep us posted on its progress.
Good Luck!

Re: Pics of my new 71 (burners)
What shocks me is the previous owner just threw away all the pieces. He was planning on all new.. Not too bright. I don't understand the thinking that a piece of board and nothing would be better than an old interior, regardless how bad it was.
I have built a few race cars ground-up so this project does not scare me. And as an electrical engineer by trade, I'll enjoy fixing the rats nest wiring.

Don't worry too much about the interior. Virtually every part in there is being reproduced by some company or another. Brand new wiring harnesses are readily available as well. I do think your first step should be to get a factory 71 assembly manual. Those things are a lifesaver, especially when you don't have the original interior in place for a reference.
