Here it is. Graphite (pencil lead) was a favourite lube for speedo cables and door locks at one time.

Stew!
I have a friend at Penn Crusher, here in the Falls. He turned me on to some heavy duty graphite spray called Never Seize. It's tough. I spray it all on my frame, and in my frame, and on anything else I don't want to subject to corrosion or otherwise. I'm actually seeing him tonight. I can check into it for you, if you want.
Truly, it's great stuff, and you won't find it at an auto parts store.
How's the Vette coming?

You didn`t say exactly what you wanted to lube, but I like a teflon spray sold by "PB Blaster" ...redvetracr
PS: try the hardware store!!

I should reiterate a point made in the earlier thread: graphite make a good coating for exhaust manifolds. It is basically carbon and will not burn. But will give a nicely finished dull gray surface. The suggestion was to smooth it on with a rag and not spray; thus to achieve a uniform coating without overspray.
