Can the PCV mod be done the same way as on an LS1? Will the results be the same, in that it will keep oil from entering the intake?

I'm planning on doing it to both C5's soon.
I'm sure someone here must've tried it on their LS6 already though...

I believe the older LS1 have a slightly different system but is can still be done and will keep the oil and moisture out. Do a search in the C5 Tech section and you will get threads with nice pictures. I just did the mod this weekend and now wish I had done it on day one.

I put it on Sat night, and Sunday did about 100miles at 130-150mph then did 6 laps (4K to 6K rpms) of the 12 mile Nurburgring and got a teaspon of oil and some water, I'm glad I did not combust that crap though.

Hey CPT Z06 Were you able to find Campbell Hausfeld filter here in Germany or did you buy another brand? I haven't looked anywhere out in town for one.

Been using it for months. Works great. It always has oil in it.

LOL I ordered it online but they wouldn't ship to an APO so I had it mailed to the Hotrod shop I used to work at and they added the brass fittings and hose and mailed it to me.

I hate the little german hardware stores, if it's not displayed and you are using it for a non-standard app it does not compute in their heads and then they say, we don't have that.

I have an oil Z06 that had re-ring and valley cover done about 10k miles ago at the dealer. After 250 miles and some autox runs today this is what I have in the filter:

I did the PCV Mod on my '99 Coupe and it caught much oil. With the different PVC system on the LS6, can someone post the LS6 mod with the CH Filter?

Great picture and great color! Is it possible for some instructions and a parts list to be posted? I really want to do this one to my 2001 Z06 Torch Red- I think I'll paint the filter Red or Black.

I went to Wal-Mart and got the Campbell-Hausfield MP 5138 air compressor filter. Then I went to Home Depot and got (2)- 1/4inch NPT thread X 3/8 inch Barb fitting to go in each end of the filter. I also got some small squeeze clamps that I used as clamps to secure the fittings. I also got some 3/8 inch fittings that allowed me to splice the fuel line in several places. I went to NAPA and got the 3/8 inch (inside diamater) fuel line hose. I got 4 feet.

Take off the plastic loop that connects the Valley cover to the intake. This connection, on the top will have the PCV valve that goes into the intake. On the bottom it connects to the Valley cover outlet. Once this loop is removed start at the bottom( the outlet for the valley cover) and attach the fuel line and run it long enough to loop it over to be able to attach it to the hose by the radiator top cover. Then cut it and attach the end to the inlet of the filter with the arrow on the filter going in the same direction. Then attach an end of the hose to the outlet of the filter and make it long enough to loop back to the inlet on the intake manifold. (the top ). At both connections, the bottom from the outlet to the fuel line and going into the rubber connection of the PCV valve ,on top, use the splicers and the squeeze fittings. You can see from my pictures. Then use plastic ties to neatin it up.

Hope this isn't so confusing it is of no help. but, I think my pictures will lead you thru the installation.

It really doesn't need to be run that far. An inch or so of hose from the intake manifold, then the pcv valve, then another couple/few inches of hose, then the ch bottle, then just enough hose to come off the bottle, loop straight down and back to the valley cover. If you do it this way they bottle sits right next to the head. Posistion the bottle there and cut the hoses to length. Take a peek at my engine pix and you will notice the ch bottle there directly in front of the head.

Tonight I'll post a pic and part number. My CH air/water filter is a little bigger and in has a valve on the bottom, so I don't need to worry about the hole in bottom, just get a catch can, twist the valve and drain it.

Many thanks for the great detail and parts list! I did the PVC mod on my '99 coupe with LS-1 PVC setup. The LS-6 PVC system is different than the LS-1 but now its clear as glass. Here we go again!
