JB WELD....IS....GOD!!
it held!! i fired it up today, as i had to fill it up to water in order to apply the copper block sealer. from what it looks like, i don't even need the block sealer! :D not one drip...i know it's still early to get excited about it holding for a while, but what the hell, it held!!
the block sealer is also in now, i just gotta let it dry tonight. everything's lookin good though, and it sounds so mean after not hearing it for so long. tomorrow's gonna be the big day, when i finally get to drive it home by myself! it may be a piece of sh--, but i still love my vette!! :steering: :auto:

JB weld is good for parts that don't receive a lot of stress. What exactly did you use it on? Glad to hear it worked for you.

There are two types of the stuff - quick and the long curing kind. The quick kind will hold up where there is not a lot expansion or shock vibration. If you are using it where there is high heat up to 600 degrees use the long curing kind. I think your block repair will work. I have used the quick stuff (2-4 hours of curing) on a broken water neck and sealing cracks in a head water outlet. Also, used it to fill in the corrison voids in the t-stat opening on a cast manifold and then sand it smooth. Stuff works great.

That stuff is great. I was changing an oxy sensor in a camaro. It took the threads out of the manifold when it came out. I live along way from a parts store. I put JB weld on it and stuck it in the hole until I could fix it. That was a year ago now and it is still in there. .

I would tie a big leather belt around the engine just to make sure it holds together! I guess you have to let the engine heat up to really test it... Prepare to be enshrined in the Bubba Hall of Fame! MJ

Re: JB WELD....IS....GOD!! (radwebster)
Hey get this. We were preparing a car for a demolition derby about 10 years back. It was an old LTD with a 460 in it and a hole about the size of a penny in an aluminum spacer behind the water pump. We used the JB Weld on the hole, building it up over and over to fill the hole. Fixed it like a champ and made it through the derby without leaking. The stuff is like magic when you are in a pinch.

i can't believe it is going to hold when the engine gets real hot and the pressure builds. Hang on to that block seal and carry lots of water with you if you take it out.

Re: JB WELD....IS....GOD!! (turtlevette)
I used it to seal up a water jacket on an aluminum intake on a 84 small block chevy one time.
It held until I sold it 4 years later.

My best JB Weld story!!!
I was puttiing a 350 (about 450 HP) in my 57 chevy pickup, I had to drill front mounts for the frame (too lazy to build side mounts on the truck), I got too carried away with one of the holes and it wouldn't hold the threads,,you say helicoil,,I say JB Autoweld (with metal, it was in the tool box),,,let it set re-drilled, tapped new motor mounts and drove and raced that truck for 15 years without a problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUST for BUBBA (JB) WELD is the shiznit!!!!! My Dad has used it on gas tanks in old tractors for years. I used it on a corroded water pump housing on a mitsubishi 4 cylinder years ago. That repair saved us over $80.00 for a new housing.

ok, had it running again today, filled up the system with coolant, and not one drip  had it running for about 30 minutes so far today, idling for a little while then i drove it down the street a couple times, seems to be holding well.
again, i only plan on taking this vette out like once a week or so until i get my next motor, so hopefully i wont' ahve any problems. also, i removed the thermostat and i left the pressure cap only partway on, not letting any pressure build up in there. if it boils over or anything, i'll just refill it. not too big of a deal for me now. oh yea....this time, unlike the guy that filled it last, i used ANTIFREEZE!! :chevy :chevy :chevy :chevy :chevy :chevy :chevy :chevy
i will be driving it home in about an hour too, so i will be able to look at it here again! :auto: i'll let you guys know how the trip goes.
