I think I found a good deal, but I am a C4 guy, so I need HELP!!!
So, a few years ago I found a 1968 Corvette Convertible with the 427 and a 4-speed. The car runs and drives and the guy has had it in his garage for some time. It needs paint and interior work and maybe other stuff. But it has only 60,000 miles on it and is an original side pipe car. I LOVE the car and want to know if $10,000 is a good price for this baby. Please let me know b/c I think that it might be a good to restore and maybe sell, maybe keep. It sure isn't doing anyone any good where it is. A little HELP please!!!

It cannot be an original sidepipe car because they were only available on 69's :skep:

Hey man, need more info. Look at the frame for starters....
10K for a 4spd BB is a good price, makes me think that the condition is not too hot....

I may be wrong about the year, I cannot recall b/c it has been awhile. I know that it is in good shape otherwise. My dad thought about buying it and had me under there looking for corrosion and the like. It was really clean. The paint was spider webbed all to hell on the front clip but everything else was decent. It had one headlight that wouldn't go down but didn't appear to be damaged. It did have cutouts for rear exit exhaust, but I don't know if that came on all of them or not. That is what I recall. I guess I could get more info, but the car is in PA and I am in Indiana.

If the frame is solid on an original BB chrome bumper roadster, $10K is a great deal. :yesnod:

Frame in good shape.
Original Big Block
Chrome Bumpered C3
60K original miles
If all the above is true, 10K could ge a great price. Please get more info so we can see how else we can help you. How often is it driven?

If the car has cut outs for the exhaust, side pipes are add ons, but who cares, means you don't have to spend bucks for side exhaust...right?
Buy the car....NOW, 10K is a heck of a deal
BTW.....you have a nice ride

Original sidepipe cars had different rear quarter panels so the seam at the rear is a straight seam. There are some aftermarket rear panels that have a curved filler to conceal the exhaust hole but it isn't "correct".

Thanks for the compliment on my ride though. It think it is a pretty nice car, but I really would rather have a nice C3!!!

If the frame is good, buy it. The rest of the stuff doesn't matter as much. Prepare for work though. Drive it around a bit before you tear it apart though.

10k is a good price for a BB vert. If you need to replace interior stuff just keep in mind that some 68 stuff is real expensive. The center gage bezel for my 72 is $109 but is $299 for a 68. Some stuff is early and some is late 68 depends on the month the car was made.
Just something to keep in mind.

10k is a good price for a SB 68 vert. If the frame is in good shape go for it. Just keep in mind that many parts for a 68 were one year only.

Just give me the address where this car is parked, and I'll check it out for you. I'll even bring money just to make sure it doesn't get away...hehe
