Got Sidepipes Cheap! Confused on Installation
I just got some used Hooker SuperComp headers and Sidepipes from a mechanic for $200. They had to be sandblasted and then I painted them black, so now they are ready to put on.
I not sure how the sidepipes actually bolt to the car because the pipes didn't come with any bolts. I see the holes in the frame of the car where the brackets of the sidepipes are supposed to be bolted to, but how? I don't see how just a nut and bolt would work because there is no way to hold the nut when tightening the bolt. Do I need some special fastener or am I just missing something? Thanks.

The Hooker sidepipes are attached with a T-bolt. You put the T-bolt in the slots in the frame and then turn them 90 degrees to lock them in place. Then a rubber washer goes over the bolt to hold them from falling back into the frame.

The pipes are bolted with a set of T shaped bolts. You thread the "T" part in to the holes in the frames and turn them 90 degrees..Dont forget some rubber bushings inbetween the pipes and frame..

Do you know of any place where I can get these T bolts and washers? Also, when you say T bolts- they don't thread into anything right- theres no washer?

I confess. I got some carriage bolts from the local home improvement store and cut the head off on 2 sides to make my own T-Bolts. My car does not currently have rubber washers to hold them in place and that causes a problem with the bolts dropping in to the frame every time I remove the pipes.
