Default RTV in caliper rebuild

The GM shop manual says to use RTV for the outer dust boot to piston groove and RTV on the outer boot retaining ring to caliper housing.

Anyone recommend this as something you should follow?

Ill be doing the VBP O-ring piston in my caliper rebuild.

Not for me. I would use assembly lube.

Yes I use hi temp black RTV on those dust seals...works fine...just don't overdoo it...a little smudge is fine....but make sure everything is squeeky clean with NO contaminants....
