I was warming up my vette today and as you know the tach reads at
a higher rpm at first start (cold weather) then it drops.
well I was looking at my tach and at full warm idle it was was reading 0
maybe even below the 0?? is this normal. but when i give it gas. it reads
the rpms but when i let off it go's down to 0
i'm not sure if it always did this or if this is something new, it's been a long winter and i have not drivin it since Oct. i did put a new high amp Alt. in last
week but i'm not sure if it did the same with the old Alt.
i still have the old one and it works i could put it back on to see but the temp.
is 8 F outside(Chicago is having a heat wave!!!!!!) :D
so anyone out there in warner weahter can you check to see what your tach reads at idle thanks :seeya

something is wrong there... the only time the tach should read 0 is when the engine is off...

My tach reads about 550-600 at a drive idle when warm.

Never had my tach 0 unless the car was off. Probably a problem in the line or with the filter somewhere. Interesting problem! Hopefully someone else will be able to help.

Yup, you have a problem with your tach, or with the signal being sent to it. I've had guages go "blank" intermitently due to a bad connection and that might be worth looking at. The easiest solution would be to look in the yellow pages under "speedometers" and find a shop that specializes in tachs and such. Otherwise, stay tuned and someone will probably be able to diagnos your problem.

Well i hang in there, in time i'll find out
i will tace the wires down and see what going on. i'm replacing the carpet and center gauge lens so its pretty well gutted out , i'm also running wire for my monster sound system.(2500watts of rock and roll)

I two orion HCCA 2100 amp,focal 6.5 mids that i made custom door pods
focal tweets in the dash two high power fosgate 12"subs alpine head unit
a 200 amp alt. and i'm working on adding a second battery.i made all the custom sub box and door pods to fit and look good its hard to ad big
amps and sub to a small car like a vette but it can be done .and it will fit under
the rear roll out cover and i can still get to my battery
if you want to see pics of some of the work emailme i can send picks
now it stil in the raw stage but you can see what i'm shooting for :cool:

Looks I might have some compititon for loudest C3 setup... I'd love pics!! How are you mounting the tweets in the dash for imaging? I'm making fiberglass kickpanels for my mids, I'm not sure where I'm going to put the tweets yet. I was thinking A-pillar, dash, or kick...but I need to play with it to find best staging/imaging. :thumbs:

I WILL SEND YOU PICS. I HAVE THEM ON A DISC AT MY SHOP SO I'll SEND TO Monday, as for the tweets that one took time the xover that focal has
lets me set for" dash mount or close to mid woofer" so i just moved the tweet around till i was happy. what i found was PART EXPRESS sell everthing i need to wire my system,the had a close out sale on 4x6 dash mount tweeters that came in a left and right now all i did is remove the cheep tweet that came with it. and replaced it with my FOCAL tweet. the cool part is the 4x6 plate is made to aim the tweeters to the center of the car so they are hitting the same point at the distance cool!!!!! and they are only 97 cents per 4x6
and they are drop in fit !!! :cheers:

Mine will idle..when warm at 600 rpms. Mine has never rested at 0 when I turn the car off. It will go back up to 1000 or so when the car is off.
