Dye-ing to know
Still trying to get info. Can I dye a Doeskin seat cover to match my current red interior. I have a rip in the driver seat and can get a single used cover in good shape, but I will need to change the color. Would you use the spray can vinyl dye or is there another option. I don't want to do this if there will be a horrible mismatch between the two seats or the seat and door panel. I don't want to leave the seller (BeachinVette) hanging out there too long if I can't do what I need.
Thanks,

I will give this a try...with no guarantees. The armrest in the pic was black when I bought it. I prepped with varsol to remove any oily residue, applied vinyl primer (grey) and sprayed with doeskin dye. I finished with a low lustre transparent sealer. If doeskin can cover a dark colour like black, I do not see why red cannot cover a lighter colour such as doeskin.

JMHO, but I think seats are too wear prone to have it last long.
You also have the problem of matching a 20+ year old interior. Most people that have good luck doing this usually do the hard parts, like the panels and dash that do not get much wear.
I know someone will say theirs came out great, but if you drive it, it will not hold up for long.
Companies that make the covers will sell only one seat also.

John,
Before you try anything, I'd give this some thought.....
You can buy the spray can dye (Krylon) at places such as Pep Boys, Autozone, etc...for $4.99 a can.
I redyed the entire interior (not the seats) and used about 5 cans. This dye works great, although I didn't do the seats, I'm still amazed how flezible this dye is. For less than $5.00, I'd try and dye the seats. In the worst case, you'll end up getting new covers anyway, but....Maybe for not another year or two.
P.S. Red will cover Tan.
