Removing a rear window from a 76 questions ...
So the local glass shop wants $200 to r/r the back window in my vette. For that price, I think I can handle it myself. Can anyone give me any tips on what tools to use to remove and clean the rear window, and install a new one. Thanks!

I just used a knife (actually a razor blade) to cut through the sealant from the outside.
At some point it will give and I just pushed it toward the inside.

dukvet76,
i am getting ready to do this as soon as i find time. my brother-in-law works for a glass company (he wants to replace my back wall with a wall of glass so you can see the pool FREE) and he gave me some stuff to use to seal it after i clean it up. getting it out should be easy if its like mine (leaks all around it). just taking off the trim and pushing will do for me but a razorblade to cut the old sealer out should be all thats needed. i think i might go for it this week and i will post pictures if i can. how soon are you going to do it?

One of those while your at it things.
Consider the 68-72 removable window. That's why I took mine out. Best bang for the buck (non-performance) thing I did.
Since I installed it, it hasn't been in except to wash the car.

You can use a razzor blade or pick up a window knife at the glass supply. These work real well for front or rear.Look at your A.I.M. for rear window. Some installed with a sealant-spacer and I think only the Doc has these listed. You can always just run a bead of urethane sealant around the fram and set the glass with it.Press the glass down and work the excess over the edges[inside].Don't forget,a special primer is used on glass before setting.

Mine was easy to remove...I left my car outside during summer in AZ and since I had already had the interior pieces out that pushed up against it, the heat melted the sealent and one day it just fell out. That was probabaly the easiest thing Ive taken off my car
