Rear Main Seal Removal Help.......
I am trying to replace my rear main seal on my 1981. I have the steering down and the oil pan off. When I look at all the journals the one with the seal looks a little different. It seems to have the oil pump attached to it ( I think),does the journal come out with the oil pump attached or am I not seeing the right thing? Thanks for any help, I really don't want to mess this job up.

The oil pump comes off.
Don't forget to use a new nylon sleeve on the pump shaft. For $1.00 it is cheap insurance.
This is the pump attachment bolt. The torque is 65 ft-lbs. The bearing cap bolt torque is 80 ft-lbs.

It comes off with the oil pump on or off, whatever you think is the easiest
BTW, toss the sleeve, toss the shaft and get the ARP shaft that has the pump drive sleeve integral
Main cap torque is 75 lbs.ft, to be tightened in 3 increments, 80 is fine too, most torque wrenches are off by 5 lbs.ft anyway
