Muncie transmission "tin tag" numbers?
On the driver's side of the 4-speed tranny, there is a small tin strip bolted to the casing. It's about a 1/2 inch wide and two inches long. It has a number stamped into it and I can't find a web site that explains this number. Can someone help me identify this number? It is: 3981709WT

That's the part number for your transmission assembly... I'd be willing to bet the farm that the two letters following the part number are the broadcast code.
