According to my "Corvette Black Book", 3 different heads were used on 72 350s. Mostly 3973487s were used on both 350 engines (200 & 255HP), but some 3998916s and 3998993s were used also........Thats all the info I can give ya. Hope it helps.

http://www.mortec.com can give you some casting number info sometimes, for the 3973487 heads it says "used on 71-72 LT1 350, 75 cc chamber"... for the 3998916 it has a little more "also used with 72 LT1, big valves, screw in studs, 76cc chambers"... for 3998993 it says "307/350 72-73 75cc chambers" There's some other neat info on that site too. Hope you figure your heads out!

FYI....Ihave a '72 with the L-48 engine, matching #'s, original trans, etc. The heads are the "487" X heads. These are correct for the year but I am not sure for the Vette. I am told they flow good and I know they have 2.02" and 1.6" valves.
