Anyone interested in a complete '77 454?? Toronto area....
EDIT: I am talking about a motor, not a car
I have come across a deal i have to pass on b/c the wife can't undestand why i need another 454 with a baby coming in 4 weeks (women! ).
I have not seen it but it has been recommended by a friend of the seller. It apparently is in great shape and has all the accessories on it and apparently the internals are stock. It has an aluminum intake and cooling fan. It came out of a truck that was totaled with a TH350.
The price quoted to me was $1500CDN or $1000USD but I was made to understand that the price was a little softer if cash was ready to go.
If you are interested let me know and i will pass on the numbers...

Man I thought this was a car
For $1000US (for a car), I would have flown up and driven it home :) (not that it would have made it for $1k)

If gas prices continue to rise bb's will once again become a dime a dozen. Dwane you have a great setup, I would not change a thing with your vette.

Re: (gdh)
I was wondering, I know there are kits for a SB car, to accept a BB. My question is, what would that do to the performance of the car? I realize that a BB will, or can give me more torque, if set up right, but what would that do the balance of the car? I mean the car was engineerd for a SB, so if you stick in a heavier motor wont that upset the setup? I realize I'm not getting the car ready for the Le Mans, but was just curious.

Re: (Dwayne 76)
Dwayne, the car was engineered for both. If you have heavy duty 540lb springs, then there should be no prob. The car will definately be ~200 heavier up front but you don't autocross so you will not feel it IMHO.

Keep in mind that the truck 454's were not perfomance engines. Their low compression ratio and mild cam won't cost much to fix during a rebuild but replacing their "peanut port" heads with something worthy of a performance engine won't be cheap.

Re: (Dwayne 76)
Good point, I never thought of that. Flavio, I didn't realize there was a BB available in '76. I guess that would make sense.
