Brake caliper question. Rebuild or Replace
Hey guys. I have all of my old brake calipers of and am wandering waht to do now. I want good brakes of course but is it worth the money to by the VBP SS sleeved O-ring calipers or should I buy the O-ring kit and rebuild the ones I have and save the money
If I do rebuild what should I watch for as far as wear?
Can I sandblast the oldones without hurting them?
Any other advise as always is very much appreciated.

Re: Brake caliper question. Rebuild or Replace (BlackRat)
Personally, I would buy the rebuilt units. I went the local route when I was working my brakes and got 2 rear calipers from Advance Auto. They come with a lifetime warranty so if they ever leak, I just pop em off and go get 2 more!

Re: Brake caliper question. Rebuild or Replace (BlackRat)
I just bought the VBP o-ring kit and believe the job should go well.
I have not started it yet as Im waiting for the weather to warm up a little. I am taking a gamble that my calipers are SS sleeved as the MC and calipers look newer, but one has some moisture on it so there is probably a slight leak going on.
I figure I will save the money to rebuild myself and put what I save into SS braided hoses and a new power booster. Luckily my pads and rotors are like new.
Thats how I see it. Others have spoken up befpore and really recommended the O-ring rebuild kit as a straight forward deal.

Re: Brake caliper question. Rebuild or Replace (BlackRat)
I guess im a little lazy when it comes to rebuilding stuff. I figure that for most things the cost of a rebuild kit plus all the time I will spend busting my knuckles trying to do it, is just not worth it. I bought new calipers and have no problems, and its really not that expensive when its said and done (get back core charge).
