Binding Interlock Linkage Cable - 1969
My Trans-Rebuild shop (1969 4-speed, 107,000 mi., first rebuild) says the Interlock Cable kinks and binds when hooked up, not allowing the ignition key to be removed. It worked fine going ito the shop. They can't seem to solve the problem. Does anyone have a tip?

Re: Binding Interlock Linkage Cable - 1969 (Ftr12DLite)
I had this exact problem.
I did replace my interlock cable and I had still had a problem with key not going into the lock position. I found an article somewhere that explains how to adjust this under the steering column. You need to remove a cover of bottom side of the column in order to get to the spot where you can make the adjustment. If look under the column there is a piece of linkage that moves when you turn the key. This piece of linkage connects to this little mechanism where you make the adjustment. Let me see if I can find that article because it give you the sequence to follow in order to adjust it correctly. My was a little sticky too so I cleaned it and lubed it a little.

Re: Binding Interlock Linkage Cable - 1969 (James)
Here is the article.
Jim Shea wrote this article and directed me to it.
Worked like charm. http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/Igniti...rAdj01JN01.doc
You want to read the part about adjusting the ignition switch.
****Follow his instructions because I was not 100% correct about what I said in my first reply!!!!****

Hi James,
I can't turn the key to the lock position when in reverse (4-speed)...you really have to jam the lever hard into reverse for it to work. However the key does come out when it's not in lock and one can start the engine without a key!!!! Can you post the article or PM me a copy?
Thanks
