Default Driveshaft Loop Questions?

I purchased a Jeg's Driveshaft Loop. In the instructions it says it mounts to the floor pan....I was hoping it would mount to the frame rails but it's not long enough. Has anyone else installed one on their Corvette? Any tips?

I believe I remember hearing that the driveshaft loop is to be installed no more than 5" from the front of the driveshaft u-joint (for safety purposes). I know that the purpose of the loop is in case the front u-joint were to break the driveshaft would hit the ground and catipult my car.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm putting one in my 68. Planning on putting an 1/8" piece from the rear crossmember to the center trans crossmember on each side and bolt the
driveshaft loop sections to those.

Also, a bigger concern for me if the driveshaft gets loose is having it come up and whip around inside the car.

OK, you guys are scaring me. Is this something that an everday driver should be concerned with or is it more of a racing application only?

It's mainly a drag racing thing. However, if I had a street car putting out some decent power and run it hard I would consider one.

I mounted mine to the floor. I removed the seats and welded 4 bolt to a plate that sits under the carpet, under the seat and spreads the load out over the floor.
In this picture it is the aluminum plate that you see.
A corvette driveshaft could not fall out and touch the ground but it sure could thrash around and kill the tunnel. The loop saves the tunnel.
