For the past couple years I've heard people spouting about how good these clay bars are at cleaning paint. Well I forgot one of my cars was parked next to the exhaust fan and of course it took on some overspray. So I thought I'd give the new clay bar a try. You wet the surface with detailer and then just lightly wipe over the area. Then you glaze it.
Well -damn! This thing is a miracle. Who would have ever thought this would work? But it does. Takes ALL the overspray off VERY easily with no buffing mess. More important none of the buffing machine dangers like ruining your paint job.
I'm now an official clay bar junkie. Go buy one now!

Yep...I try to do all my cars about once a year, then follow up with a fresh wax. My wife's ten year old car looks almost new (except for the door dings).
Love the stuff...it gets things you can't see, I recommend it once a year.

Have one in the garage. Mothers makes mine. I have used it several times. I like anything Mothers makes.

It also works very well removing bugs from the front bumper and grill area and also tar from behind the rear wheels. :thumbs:

I use them, leaves a finish thats smother than a baby's butt,....Not that i know what a baby's butt feels like.....

I love claybars. It's such a great feeling to run your finger on a fender that's smooth as hell. If you've never used one, you owe yourself to give it a try! They're amazing.

I have one, but seem to have trouble using it.......kind of kept sticking. What are the tricks for the clay bar to work well? I have about a month before the weather breaks and would like to wax 'er up now!

Just A couple of pointers (and yes I love mine) make sure you use the wetting solution and if you DROP it TRASH It .. It will pick up the smallest dirt particles and then it's like sandpaper. and keep it moist when storing it. :cheers:

Good points.......Zaino will be going on this weekend....No need for clay bar since car has not had wax since paint was sprayed :cheers:

Make sure the surface is cool, and use plenty of lubricant. In fact I sometimes use the clay WHILE I'm washing the car. . . wash mitt in one hand and clay in the other. :D Also, don't apply too much pressure; GLIDE the clay along the surface.

I had a similar problem. I thought I used an ample amount of the detailing stuff and the clay bar left a clay residue on the paint. I immediately stopped using it and never have been able to completely remove all traces of my failed attempt.

I bought a mother's one, blue bar, worked great. Bought a Mequre's one, white bar, and it stuck just as you describe. Left poopoo on the finish. I did finally rub it off, and just used the Meguires spray that came with the bar, with my old Mothers clay bar. Still works perfect. So, I guess the moral of the story is, not all clay bars are the same.

The one I've been using continuously for the past 24 hours is a megueirs one. It works great for me. It does leave a little residue here and there but it comes off very easily with the hand glaze I'm using.

I think the detailer I'm using is final step or final touch or something. All a detailer is is a spray mist that restores shine to your finish. Great for car show dust.

I suspect those having problems aren't using enough detailer or not following up with a glaze or wax.
